Perfect Popovers and a Netflix Recommendation

Before diving into today’s story, a feel-good movie recommendation: Nonnas.

Nonnas is a 2025 Netflix comedy-drama (not the restaurant by the same name in Ankeny) inspired by the true story of a Staten Island man who, after losing his mother and grandmother, opens a charming Italian restaurant staffed entirely by grandmothers—“nonnas”—from different regions of Italy. There are secret recipes, plenty of heart, and yes, a happy ending. Don’t we all crave those ingredients right now?
